| Orleans Street  | Orleans Street is the heart of the Quarter, broader than any of the other adjacent streets. In this view, we are looking at the rear of St. Louis Cathedral and St. Anthony’s Garden (which contains the statue). To the left are the columns of the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. It holds a reputation as the place of the once-famous Quadroon Ballroom. |  | The famous Bourbon Orleans Hotel is located at the corner of Orleans and Bourbon Streets. In the past, the hotel was the home, at one time or another, to the Convent of the Holy Family (an Order of Negro nuns), the Orleans Theatre, and the Grand Ballroom. |  | One of the Bourbon Orleans' most infamous uses was as the Quadroon Ballroom, the place where affluent white men would go to meet Mulatto women and acquire them as mistresses. This particular hotel is known for a number of ghostly sightings, particularly in the ballroom on the second floor. |  | A somewhat spooky vision experienced while walking up Orleans Street. |
