St. Charles Avenue Line

Looking out the window of a streetcar on St. Charles Ave as another streetcar passes.

The green streetcars seen mostly along the St. Charles Avenue Line were manufactured by the Perley A. Thomas Company in 1923 and 1924, though this particular streetcar line has been running for over 150 years!

Beautiful old homes in the Garden District.

A look down the track which runs on along the neutral ground (a favorite place for joggers).

Inside one of the old green streetcars.

An interesting home with different styles in the Garden District.

The streetcar stopped at a red light.

Video

This is a 45 second video of the St. Charles line operating in New Orleans--It was taken on June 3, 2010; the streetcar operator is Alex, who was kind enough to explain the controls and what each did.  It was a challenge trying to figure out his accent, however.
