Welcome to The Gates of Dixie

Alligators, cypress swamps, bayous, crawfish, shrimp, sugar cane, and of course, the Cajuns, are among the many things brought to mind with the mention of the name, Louisiana.  Join us on this photo tour of Southern Louisiana and take in some of the sights that folks living here have the opportunity to enjoy every day.  True, Louisiana is a part of the South, but it is certainly not your typical Southern state.  In fact, Northern Louisiana is quite different from Southern Louisiana.
This site is dedicated to all those who have an interest in or have a love for the Land of the Cajuns.  Whether your interest be the Bayous, Southern Cuisine, Haunted Houses, or even the French Quarter, you’ll find something here that will strike your fancy.  We’ll teach you how to make some of the more popular drinks that can be found in many parts of Louisiana.  Even if you are halfway across the world, we hope to bring out a bit of the Cajun in you.  Kick back and relax, and enjoy!  And always remember to...

The Crescent City Connection bridges span the Mississippi River and provides direct access from the West Bank into the Central Business District (inlcuding the French Quarter).  Be prepared to pay a one dollar toll as you travel toward the city, but it’s a toll-free trip when you’re heading in the other direction.

The Latest Buzz

The Gates of Dixie now had a new host, Microsoft Live Office.  Our site has a whole new look and has undergone many updates.  We hope you enjoy our new site.  As time goes on, I'll be adding some of the old stuff back into it.  And lots more photos and interesting information.

One page we are missing at present is our Sights and Sounds page.  That will be forthcoming.  Meanwhile, take a look at our link to The Gumbo Pages (http://www.gumbopages.com) and you should find a lot of great links to entertainment, shopping, radio and television stations, plus lots of great Southern Louisiana style recipes.

If you'd like to place a link on our page for a very good price or an exchange link to a similar site for free, just let us know.  There's an email link at the bottome of each page...or just use the form below.  Thanks for stopping by!
