| The Moonwalk runs along the French Quarter and the east-bank of the Mississippi River. It is not only a favorite place for tourists as well as locals for an evening stroll, but it also provides easy access to shops and restaurants, as well as the Aquarium of the Americas and the riverboats on the Riverwalk. The Moonwalk was named for former New Orleans Mayor ‘Moon’ Landrieu (father of current U.S. Senator, Mary Landrieu). Photo taken September, 2000.

  | This is Rebecca Waxman in September, 2000, co-owner of Coconut Palm Art and Crafts. Rebecca made baskets while you waited and could be found in Woldenberg Riverfront Park near the Natchez riverboat berth. Rain or shine, Rebecca was on the job 12 noon to sunset; prices ranged from $2 to $25. At the time of the photos, Rebecca’s partner was Scott Holnberg. |
 | The Riverfront streetcar line runs parallel to the Mississppi River and looks just like the more famous and older streetcars that run along St. Charles Ave. (except, the Riverfront cars are red, and the St. Charles line are green). Photo taken September, 2000.

 | This photo almost cost Gil his life! Gil was concentrating on the camera and snapping the photo, little realizing that the Riverfront streetcar was speeding along at about 30 miles per hour. After snapping the photo, he looked up and suddenly saw the streetcar pass less than six feet away. Sometimes the perfect shot can be a very dangerous experience!

 | While awaiting passenger boarding, the calliope organ is played to attract more customers. As can be seen, the Natchez in 2000 was docked alongside the walk--in 2010, it is berthed at a pier. |
